Given that Ram trucks are very sturdy, many drivers enjoy using them for long periods. But these trucks are still far from perfect, as the automaker sometimes issues recalls for them.

1. Ram 1500 Recalls
The Ram 1500 is the model with the highest number of recalls. According to cars.com, Ram has issued a total of 63 recalls for this model. Some of the recalls for this model border around the following issues:
- Incorrect spare tire size: Ram recalled some 2015-2021 Ram 1500 trucks because it placed the wrong spare tire size in the vehicles.
- Absent retaining clip: Usually, Ram trucks contain retaining clips that attach their brake pedals to the brake system. However, the automaker failed to install this retaining clip in some 2020 and 2021 Ram 1500 trucks.
- Mirror glass attachment error: Builders of some 2020 Ram 1500 trucks did not properly secure the driver’s side mirror to its backing plate.
- Faulty rearview camera: Due to a production error, the rearview camera in certain 2021 Ram 1500 trucks may be unable to display images of the driver’s surroundings.
- Seat belt retractor: In some 2020 Ram 1500s, the seat belt retractor in the first passenger seat may not secure the passenger during a crash.
- Windshield wiper: Ram recalled some 2020 Ram 1500 to repair their windshield wiper. Due to improper attachment, the windshield wiper may fall off, leaving the windscreen cloudy. Drivers who use these vehicles may be unable to see the road in front of them while driving.
- Weak sensor tone wheel: In certain 2014-2018 Ram 1500s, the sensor tone wheel may fall apart while the vehicle is in use. Since the sensor wheel aids the engine in managing fuel injector pulses, its absence may bring the engine to a halt.
- Adjustable pedals: Ram recalled some 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 trucks to fix the error in their adjustable brake pedal. When a driver places the brake pedals in certain positions, the floormats may prevent the pedals from returning to their original position.
- Airbag curtain inflator: The automaker issued recalls for 2015-2020 Ram 1500 vehicles to repair their airbag curtain inflator end cap. Sometimes, this inflator end cap may separate from the inflator.
- Rearview camera sensor: Originally, the rearview camera is only supposed to display images when the truck is in reverse. But in certain 2019 and 2020 Ram pickup trucks, the images on the rearview camera may not disappear even after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse.
- Transfer case gear: The automaker may have failed to install a gear in the transfer case of some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks properly. While riding the van, drivers of these trucks may find the engine suddenly come to a halt.
- Wrong Tire Pressure Monitoring System: Ram may have mounted the wrong Tire Pressure Monitoring System in some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks. As a result, the sensor in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System may not alert the driver when the tire’s air pressure falls.
- Faulty electric power steering gear: The electric power steering in some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks may short circuit, thus leading to a temporary loss of power in the steering assist.
- Rear step kit: During a rear-impact crash, the rear step kit in certain 2019 Ram 1500 trucks may make the rear control arms hit the fuel tank.
- Instrument cluster error: Due to a manufacturing error in the instrument cluster panel of some 2019 Ram 1500 trucks, drivers may be unable to view vehicle notifications clearly.

The Ram 2500 is the model with the second highest number of recalls. This model has about 38 recalls. Here are some of the reasons why Ram recalled some 2500 trucks:
- Faulty electrical system: The Solid State Intake Heater Grid Delay of certain 2021 Ram 2500 trucks may develop a short circuit. When this happens, the affected vehicles might catch fire.
- Bed step installation error: While mounting loads on some 2019 and 2020 Ram 2500 trucks, the bed step in the vehicle may get fractured.
- Automatic transmission: Pressure and heat may build up in the transmission of some 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 cars, thus leading to a fluid leak.
- Fuel system error: Due to a manufacturing defect in certain 2019 Ram 2500 trucks, fuel may leak from the fuel lines into the engine compartment.
- Steering linkage jam: The steering linkage jam in some 2013-2018 Ram 2500 trucks may loosen. When this happens, the drag link in the affected vehicle may break at one end.
- Wheels: The outer surface of the wheels in certain 2013-2017 Ram 2500 trucks may break and make the tires in the vehicle lose air rapidly.
- Engine alternator: Certain 2015 Ram 2500 trucks contain a 220 amp alternator, which may suddenly stop working.

3. Ram 4500 recalls
With a total of 36 recalls, the Ram 4500 truck is the model with the third highest number of recalls amongst Ram vehicles. The following issues led to the recall of the model:
- Engine calibration software: The engine calibration software in certain 2019 and 2020 Ram 4500 trucks may fail to alert the driver when the oil volume in the vehicle is low.
- Rear brake caliper installation error: The rear brake caliper in certain 2019 and 2020 4500 trucks may have been mounted in a wrong manner. This incorrect installation method places the brake caliper in direct contact with a suspension component. As a result, the brake pads in the affected vehicles might wear out prematurely.
- Brake hoses: Ram may have produced some brake hoses in certain 2018 4500 trucks without adding rust protection to them. In the absence of anti-corrosion protection, the hoses may rust quickly.
- Incorrect tire: The automaker stated that certain 2014 and 2015 Ram 1500 trucks could reach a speed of 106 mph. However, the tires in the affected vehicles were only built for a maximum speed of 87 mph.
- Wrong bolt: Ram may have used the wrong bolt to attach the track bar of particular 2013 Ram 4500 trucks to their frame.
