Ford Escape Light indicator Symbols Explained

Light indicator symbols on the dashboard are designed to let you know when there’s a problem with your vehicle.

The Escape model has a range of indicator lights and alerts. Most dashboards have three bright colors: yellow, red, and orange.

The more extreme warnings are highlighted in red. If you see a red warning sign, pull over as soon as it is safe to do so.

Examples of red light indicators include the “Check Engine” and “Low Engine Oil” lights, which signify critical issues with your vehicle.

Yellow lights usually signify a less critical issue. Don’t ignore a yellow light because it can easily become a big issue.

Green lights usually indicate that a component is active, such as when you switch on the indicators to show other drivers you want to make a turn.

How Do You Adjust the Light on a Ford Escape?

The primary method of adjusting the Escape’s light is the vertical aim adjustment.

It includes the following steps:

  1. Locate the vertical adjuster on the headlamp.
  2. Park the vehicle directly in front of a wall or screen on a level surface, approximately 7.6 meters away from a horizontal reference line
  3. The center height of the lamp to the ground should be 2.4 meters. This should be marked on the screen or wall as height. Mark the center of the lamp as a 3mm circle.
  4. Open the hood and switch on the low beam headlamps to light the wall or screen. An opaque fabric should be used to cover the left-hand-side headlamp.
  5. A light pattern with a distinct horizontal edge of high-intensity light towards the right would be visible on the wall or screen. If this edge is not parallel to the horizontal reference line, the beam must be modified.
  6. Use a 4 mm socket to adjust the vertical adjuster on the headlamp anticlockwise (to adjust up) or clockwise (to adjust down), aligning the upper edge of the light pattern to the horizontal line on the wall or screen.
  7. If your car has been involved in an accident, it is advisable to consult an expert.

Selecting the “Door” option will make the light come up only when the door is opened. Change the lighting option by flipping d switch to “Door”. Test if it works by opening the door.

If the above step doesn’t work, try checking and replacing the bulb. Remove the dome light cover with the aid of a flat-head screwdriver to access the bulb.
